Arts Residencies

Costa Natura could be a wonderful setting for International Arts Residencies, in accordance with vision, mission, values and definitions of Res Artis, an international Non-Governmental (NGO) and Non-profit organisation (NPO), registered as a foundation in Netherlands, with main office in Melbourne, Australia.

Res Artis defines Arts Residencies (in 2022) as follows:

• Organised and sufficient time, space and resources
• Enablers of the creative process
• Reflective of their lexical meaning as ‘an act of dwelling in a place’
• Based on clear mutual responsibility, experimentation, exchange and dialogue
• Engaged with context by connecting the local to the global
• Crucial to the arts ecosystem
• Bridging mechanisms between different arts disciplines and non-arts sectors
• Tools for inter-cultural understanding and capacity building
• Essential professional and personal development opportunities
• Catalysts for global mobility
• Encounters with the unknown
• Profile-raising with immediate and ongoing artistic, social and economic impact
• Important contributors to cultural policy and cultural diplomacy

Res Artis (as of 2022):

Arts Residencies at Costa Natura

  • Many building developments along the southern coast of Europe were originally constructed in haste, catering to the collective unconscious of great masses of people who, each year, leave their homes to spend holidays abroad.  Vacations may be a break from routine, an escape from reality, or just holidays that must respond to a psychological and biological need for direct contact with nature, which lies at the very root of being human.

Costa Natura was conceived as a small village; recreating, in its spatial organisation, more ancestral ways of occupying the territory and a way of life in communion with nature. It is intimately connected to the land, its history and culture; merging creative vision, with thoughtful touches and beautiful living spaces. Costa Natura invites the prospect for a life and soul to accompany the sun and sea, food and drink.

The presence of the car is relegated to the background; thus, with priority to pedestrian circuits, the place of the human in nature can be felt.

  • A structured scheme would aim to connect artists, curators and creatives - in any discipline, from anywhere in the world - with homeowners who can offer suitable accommodation.

  • Interested homeowners may have opportunities to offer their properties for artist residencies, according to mutually agreed terms.

  • At the moment of writing, no financial resources are available. It is envisaged that support might comprise of free or discounted accommodation for artists.

It is likely that artists will require to meet their own expenses for travel, insurance and food. If specific financial support becomes available in future, it will be advertised here.

  • Enquiries are welcome at any time. Please send a message to describe yourself and what you hope to acheive.

  • Will be added, as required, in future.
